# Account Settings

### Account Settings

**Where to find it:** Sidebar → Settings → Account Settings

This is where you manage everything related to your personal account and your school's profile on the platform. The page is divided into two groups — **Personal** (your own account details) and **School** (your institution's information).

On mobile, you'll see a menu list first — tap any section to open it, and use the Back button to return.

At the bottom of the left navigation, you'll also find **Replay Dashboard Tour** — handy if you or a new colleague wants to walk through the dashboard introduction again.

#### Personal settings

**1. Profile**

This is where you manage your own account details — not your students' or teachers' records.

**Personal Info**

* **Name** — your display name on the platform
* **Age** — adjust using the − / + buttons or type directly
* **Gender** — Male, Female, Other, or leave unset

**Contact Info** As a School Admin, you can also update your personal address details:

* Country, State, City, and Postcode

Click **Save Profile** when done. You'll see a confirmation or error message straight away.

Note: Your email address and username aren't managed here — those are handled at the login and registration level.

**2. Photos**

Two images to manage here:

**Your profile photo**

* Shows on your user account across the dashboard
* Click **Change** to upload a new one, or **Remove** to take it down (you'll be asked to confirm)

**Your school logo (banner)**

* This appears on your school's Home banner
* Same Change / Remove options apply
* If you click to add a banner logo from the Home screen, it will bring you directly to this tab automatically

**File rules for both:**

* Accepted formats: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP
* Maximum size: 5 MB each

**3. Languages**

This tab shows the languages set up for the **RealLives game simulator** — not the dashboard interface itself (the dashboard supports 8 languages separately).

You'll see:

* Your **Default** game language
* An **Additional** language if one has been set
* A list of other game languages available on the platform

This tab is **view-only** for School Admins. Game languages are set during your organisation's registration and can't be changed from here. If you need them updated, you'll need to contact support.

**4. Security**

**Change your password**

Fill in three fields:

* Your current password
* Your new password (minimum 8 characters)
* Confirm your new password

Click **Update Password**. You'll see a success message if everything matches, or a specific error if something's wrong (incorrect current password, mismatch, too short, etc.).

**Delete your account**

This option is at the bottom of the Security tab and is marked clearly in red — for good reason.

⚠ This cannot be undone. It deletes **your personal user account and data**, not the whole school.

To go through with it:

1. Read the warning carefully
2. Type **DELETE** exactly into the confirmation field
3. Click **Delete My Account**
4. Confirm in the browser dialog that appears
5. You'll be signed out shortly after

Only do this if you're absolutely certain — there's no way to recover the account afterwards.

**5. Profiles & Roles**

This section is for admins who manage more than one school or have multiple roles on the platform.

Each profile card shows:

* The school or tenant name
* Your role (e.g. School Admin)
* A **Current** badge on whichever profile you're logged into right now
* A **Switch** button on any other profiles

**To add a new profile**, click **Add Profile** and choose the type:

| Type                      | When to use                      |
| ------------------------- | -------------------------------- |
| **School**                | A K-12 school or institution     |
| **University Department** | A department within a university |
| **Family**                | A home school or family setup    |
| **Gamer**                 | An individual player account     |

Complete the setup fields and click **Create Profile**. Once created, you can switch between profiles at any time from this tab.

If no profiles are linked yet, you'll see an empty state with an **Add Profile** prompt.

**5. Appearance**

This tab lets you personalise how the dashboard looks for you. Changes here are personal to your account and don't affect how the platform looks for your teachers or students.

**Accent colour**

Choose a colour for buttons and highlights across the dashboard. Six options are available:

Simply click any colour to apply it instantly.

**Theme**

Switch between **Light** and **Dark** mode depending on your preference or environment. Click the toggle to switch — Dark mode is shown as active in the example above.

#### School settings

**7. School Info**

This section holds your institution's details and is split into two inner tabs.

**Tab A — Basics**

These are the core details entered when your school was first registered. They are **locked** after registration and shown as read-only:

* School name
* Country, State, City, Postcode
* Address lines
* Academic year start and end dates

⚠ The academic year **cannot be changed** once it's been saved at registration. If any of these core details genuinely need updating, you'll need to contact RealLives support — there's no way to edit them from within the platform.

**Tab B — School Info**

These details are fully editable and can be updated at any time:

Click **Save Changes** when done. You'll see a confirmation message on screen.

#### A note on grade names

Grade labels — like Grade 8, Grade 9, and so on — are set during school registration. They're used throughout the platform when inviting students, filtering your student list, and attaching grades during Create Assignment.

If grade names need to be changed after setup, this can be done by going in the Students section, clicking on view grades and choosing the edit option. You can also remove or move students from and within grades.

#### Quick how-tos

**Update your profile photo or school banner** Account Settings → Photos → Change the relevant image

**Update your school's phone number or website** Account Settings → School → School Info tab → edit fields → Save Changes

**Add a second school you manage** Account Settings → Profiles & Roles → Add Profile → School → complete setup → Switch to it when needed

**Reset your password** Account Settings → Security → fill in the three password fields → Update Password

**Run the dashboard tour again** Account Settings → scroll to bottom of left nav → Replay Dashboard Tour
